Working for Champion has brought along unique opportunities, including re-designing the on field jerseys for the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The eight lacrosse teams were divided among three groups of designers under the Champion brand. As part of our in-house team of designers, I was challenged to revamp two of the eight team league's jerseys to align with contemporary design trends and the unique identity of each PLL team. With Champion's contract as the on and off field apparel provider with the PLL, our design process involved a meticulous exploration of visual elements of both brands to create a cohesive, collaborative and distinctive rebranding for each team. This project showcases my ability to translate brand identity into visually striking and functional sports apparel, contributing to the overall appeal of the Premier Lacrosse League.
This jersey update took place a year before they introduced home cities to their league. I took on the challenge of updating the Archers and Cannons jersey redesign. We were tasked to focus on pulling in elements from each team's visual identity, as well as focus on implementing the Champion branding on their jerseys so when watching on TV, our brand was prominent and recognizable. Noting the style of the previous jersey design and keeping true to lacrosse and Champion history, we opted for simplistic, clean elements that allowed the team identity to be showcased without becoming too busy.
